I’ve heard on Instagram that the app Meitu (the app that Mark, Jack, Ethan, Dan, Phil etc. have used to make them look kawaii) is getting information traded to China. Like your IP address and all the apps you have, it allows it to read your identity and take it.
I don’t know if it’s true but it’s better to be safe than sorry. So for everyone’s safety if you have the app please DELETE IT RIGHT NOW!
Also read about it this morning. Seems it gets permissions for a LOT of stuff on your phone in the background and can even send your IMEI number to some IP address which is really damn bad. Don’t know how true all of that is and people don’t know the real extent of the problem yet but it’s not worth the risk one way or the other just for a picture app.
Many other apps do this as well and it’s a much bigger conversation to be had about people’s safety and security.
