Are you living in a parallel universe? I just googled every brand of Tampon I’ve ever heard of and they all explicitly say not to flush them. If they’re made out of cotton, they cannot be flushed. They’re absorbent and do not break down quickly or dissolve in liquid like toilet paper – if they did, they would not work as tampons. Check the box again.

Double seconding that this is extra important in countries with older sewer systems (HELLO BRITISH ADVENTURES IN CLOGGED LOOS). 

Even if the tampon doesn’t clog your loo, it can seriously mess up the filters of your local sewage plant. Same if you throw leftover food into the toilet or pour fat down the drain. Just. Don’t.

I lived in an all-women’s dorm my first year of college and we had this conversation on like a monthly basis. Tampons don’t flush.
